Minecraft has better maps but I feel LW has way better tools to build exactly what you want, and you can build huge structures in just seconds if they are copied or unlocked. Both games have a creative mode where you can immediately play the game with all the "stuff" unlocked to do literally anything you want. Both games do a good job of explaining the complexities of the mechanics, but Minecraft pretty much just has a tips and tricks notification and a starter world, while Lego Worlds actually has a tutorial built into story mode. Both games can be "overwhelming" in the sense that there are a lot of mechanics and tools at your disposal, and someone who has never played a game like this may feel its too much at first. I've dumped hundreds of hours into Minecraft over the years, but Lego Worlds was a recent purchase for me and it's got way more "things to do" than I thought. Honestly, if you have never played either game, you should check out gameplay videos.
